Alcalde Ortega rindió Cuenta Pública 2025 destacando contundentes avances en inversión, seguridad y desarrollo social de San Esteban
hace 3 mesesAmong the most significant milestones were the opening of La Ermita Park and the inauguration of the new CESFAM (Family Health Center), as well as the approval of the largest investment in the municipality's history with the Alessandri Avenue project, totaling $5.2 billion. Social initiatives such as the EcoMercado Solidario (Solidarity Eco-Market), Muni Gas (Muni Gas), and the implementation of the region's most modern video surveillance system were also recognized.
With a message marked by optimism, closeness and a call to continue moving forward in unity, the mayor of San Esteban, Christian Ortega, led the 2025 Public Account, an event in which he announced the main achievements and challenges of the municipal administration.
“Today I am not here just to give an account. I am here to look back with pride, but above all to look ahead with hope,” the mayor stated before authorities, community leaders, and residents who participated in the ceremony.
During his address, the mayor emphasized that 2025 was focused on building a safer, more modern, and more inclusive community, with a clear guiding principle: putting people at the heart of decision-making. He highlighted important milestones such as the opening of La Ermita Park, a space reclaimed for the community after years of neglect, and the inauguration of the new CESFAM (Family Health Center), which significantly improves healthcare services.
Regarding infrastructure, Ortega highlighted the approval of the largest investment in the municipality's history: the Avenida Alessandri project, an initiative that will transform access to San Esteban and strengthen connectivity. "It's not just a street, it's development, it's the future," he stated.
The mayor also highlighted the progress made in social policies, emphasizing the implementation of the EcoMercado Solidario (Solidarity Eco-Market), the Muni Gas program, and the innovative support system using digital wallets, which replaced the distribution of food boxes. “Helping isn't just about giving; it's about doing it with respect and dignity,” he stressed.
In education, the municipality promoted improvements in infrastructure, technology and direct support to families, while in inclusion initiatives aimed at creating a more accessible and diversity-aware community were strengthened.
Another of the topics addressed was the environment, where the work in recycling, recovery of spaces and environmental education was highlighted, along with the commitment to face the drought and protect natural resources.
Regarding public safety, Ortega praised the implementation of one of the most modern video surveillance systems in the region, reinforcing crime prevention and coordinated efforts with the police. “The peace of mind of our families is non-negotiable,” he stated.
The local authority also took the opportunity to recall the forest fire that affected Los Chacayes in January 2025, highlighting the solidarity of the community and the work of the municipal teams in the reconstruction and support of the affected families.
In the cultural sphere, the mayor defended the investment in this area, noting that "it is not a luxury, but an investment in identity, economic development, social cohesion and mental health," highlighting its impact on the quality of life of the community.
Finally, Ortega highlighted the positive results of the external audit of the municipal management, noting that these support the work carried out with transparency and responsibility in the use of public resources.
“San Esteban is a much better community today than it was, and it will be even better in the future. We will continue working with the same strength and commitment, because when we work together, there are no limits,” he concluded.
The Public Account reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to continue promoting initiatives that improve the quality of life of residents and project San Esteban as a commune in constant development.
